Optional Co-op Work Placement Program
There are a limited number of spaces for students to mix co-op work experience with their academic learning in alternating semesters through an optional co-op program. This co-op program is structured to include from one to three co-op work terms, taking place between academic terms. Participation in the co-op program may increase time to complete the diploma by one to three semesters. The optional co-op program provides students with an opportunity to gain valuable experience. Co-op work opportunities are not guaranteed, as students are in a competitive job placement market.
Students not selected for co-op placements will complete the standard 84-hour work placement course in their final semester. Through this course, they will put their accounting knowledge and skills into practice. Students find a placement with support from the business placement advisor who maintains a roster of placement opportunities and provides students with direction and assistance in the development of resumés and job search techniques.
There is no better place to focus on an education in accounting than at the Faculty of Business at Humber. Our experienced faculty combined with an industry-focused curriculum and renowned industry partners put our program among the very best. The Accounting Centre is a resource available to all students enrolled in accounting courses. Students provide assistance with textbook concepts, homework questions and an overall understanding of course material from 1st to 6th semester.

Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Designation
Both the two-year Business-Accounting diploma and three-year Business Administration – Accounting advanced diploma programs offer pathways for students interested in pursuing an Ontario Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation. When recognized as transfer credits towards a qualifying university degree, the two-year Business-Accounting diploma and three-year Business Administration – Accounting advanced diploma support the completion of the CPA Professional Education Program academic requirements.
Advanced Certificate in Accounting and Finance (ACAF)
The Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) Ontario has advised that the CPA ‘Advanced Certificate in Accounting & Finance’ (ACAF) program will be discontinued. CPA’s market research found that college accounting programs are well regarded in the employer market across Canada and offer the same opportunities.
The path to the CPA designation is unchanged though and once you’ve completed your accounting diploma, assuming you have met minimum grade and GPA requirements, you would be eligible to pathway into Humber’s accounting degree program, the Bachelor of Commerce – Accounting.
Canadian Institute of Bookkeeping
The program meets some of the academic requirements for the Certified Bookkeeper (CB) designation offered by the Canadian Institute of Bookkeeping.
Note: The requirements for licensure are determined by the granting body, which is independent from Humber College. Students are encouraged to obtain the specific requirements directly from the granting body before enrolling.
