Humber’s Bachelor of Commerce – Digital Business Management degree program provides the essential components of a traditional business degree plus a broad selection of cutting-edge technology and advanced digital business management and marketing tools. It will help prepare you to succeed in a highly competitive business environment. By graduation, your digital business skills will include:
Courses include accounting, micro/macroeconomics, business law, marketing, information systems, ethics, e-commerce, web development, database systems, supply chain management, mobile development, data science for business analytics and more.
You’ll be able to put classroom learning into practice and get real-world experience by attending industry events, participating in competitions and learning first-hand from guest speakers and other industry events.
Our program starts with a foundation of business studies in areas such as organizational behaviour, law, economics, finance and accounting, marketing, and operations management. Specialization courses will focus on digital business management.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the program, a graduate will:
Explain the key concepts, principles, and practices of digital business management functions, processes, and systems.
Describe current technological alternatives to support solving specific business problems in various industries.
Research the online presence of a business in its key functional areas in the context of the competitive landscape.
Employ digital tools, data science, business analytics, and research methods to improve digital organizational decision making.
Propose appropriate strategies and methods to improve the online performance of an organization, utilizing current technologies.
Create a development plan for e-business applications to support an organization's strategic and operational goals.
Communicate effectively and persuasively in oral, written, digital and visual forms, appropriate to external and internal stakeholders with diverse skills, expectations and behaviours.
Identify current and future opportunities and challenges in the fast- changing digital environment.
Reflect on personal competence and professional skills to identify gaps and plan for ongoing learning.
Make business decisions, integrating personal responsibility, diverse global perspectives, and professional standards in collective decision-making.
The program requires that you complete 14 weeks/420 hours of paid work in the summer between your sixth and seventh semesters. This gives you the hands-on, real-world experience that employers value. Your placement will give you the opportunity to explore the field you’d like to work in when you graduate. We will work with employers and our industry partners to help you identify opportunities to pursue.
The Digital Business Student Association (dBSA) was formed by a group of students at the Faculty of Business who shared a vision of creating an inclusive, student-run organization with the aim of providing all students enrolled in the program with opportunities for extracurricular learning experience.
You’ll learn from experienced professors, many of whom are active in their field and maintain a network of industry professionals who understand the challenges and benefits of the online global marketplace. Using simple and proven teaching techniques, professors help students to harness information and communications technology to innovate the way companies and people do business.
