Admission Requirements

Applicants must meet all the requirements below in order to meet minimum program eligibility. Meeting minimum eligibility requirements does not guarantee an offer of admission. Admission decisions will be available via MyHumber, or by email and mail. Admission decisions will not be released by phone.

Admission selection is based on the following 3 requirements:

  • Academic

    To be eligible for admission, you must possess the following:

    • A bachelor’s degree

    Mature Applicants

    Diplomas and Certificates

    An applicant is considered a mature applicant if they have not completed secondary school or other postsecondary school, and will be 19 or older as of the first day of classes. Humber will invite you for testing to demonstrate that you meet program eligibility.

    Degrees

    An applicant is considered a mature applicant if they have not completed secondary school or attended postsecondary studies, and will be 21 or older as of the first day of classes. Mature applicants for degree programs will be required to meet course requirements at the U/M level or equivalent.

    College Transfer Applicants

    Diplomas and Certificates

    An applicant is considered a college transfer applicant if they have completed some or all of a college-level credential. Humber may use a combination of secondary school and/or college courses and grades to determine program eligibility.

    Degrees

    An applicant is considered a college transfer applicant if they have completed some or all of a college-level credential. Humber may use a combination of secondary school and/or college courses and grades to determine program eligibility. Applicants must have an overall minimum grade point average (GPA) of 65 per cent in the program. Applicants are required to disclose and provide academic transcripts for all course work completed at the postsecondary level.

    University Transfer Applicants

    An applicant is considered a university transfer applicant if they have completed some or all of a university-level credential. Humber may use a combination of secondary school and/or university courses and grades to determine program eligibility.

    Degrees

    An applicant is considered a university transfer applicant if they have completed some or all of a university-level credential. Humber may use a combination of secondary school and/or university courses and grades to determine program eligibility. Applicants are required to disclose and provide academic transcripts for all course work completed at the postsecondary level.

  • English Language Proficiency

    All applicants whose first language is not English must meet Humber’s English Language Proficiency Policy.

  • International Credit Evaluation

    Canadian citizens or permanent residents with international education are required to provide a WES or ICAS evaluation.

Master of Business Administration

Humber and Centenary University have entered into an agreement to facilitate the transfer of Humber graduates with appropriate prerequisite qualifications and grades for advanced standing into Centenary University.  

Graduates with a GPA of 3.0 or 75% in one of Humber's Graduate Certificates:

  • Human Resource Management
  • International Development
  • Marketing Management
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Public Relations
  • Global Business Management
  • Public Administration

may receive up to 6 credits towards Centenary's Masters of Business Adminstration (MBA) program.  Thirty-three (33) remaining credits may be required for program completion.  Final advanced standing granted to an applicant requires an assessment of transcripts and electives taken.

Humber applicants are required to submit the following to Centenary:

  • a completed application form (with essay where applicable) along with the application fee
  • official Humber transcript sent directly to Centenary from Humber
  • verification of high school graduation
  • Letter of Recommendation from a Humber Program Coordinator, specifying why the student is a good candidate for the program.

MSc International Marketing Management

Humber and Robert Gordon University (RGU) have entered into an agreement where graduates of Humber's Marketing Management Graduate Certificate may receive advanced entry (at the Postgraduate Diploma stage) to RGU's MSc International Marketing Management program.  Graduates must have:

  • completed the Marketing Management program
  • acheived a Grade Point Average of 3.5 or above
  • a suitable reference from a Humber faculty member
  • where the applicant's first language is not English, provide satisfactory evidence that the applicant meets the general English language requirements of the University. Applicants who require a Tier 4 visa must meet the requirements set out by the UK Visas and Immigration Secure English Language Testing (SELT) for postgraduate entry to the UK as published on their website.
  • the requisite visa to enter the United Kingdom for study purposes.

Master of Applied Management

Graduates of the Ontario Graduate Certificate from Humber College are eligible to enroll in the Master of Applied Management at Eastern Institute of Technology (EIT) in New Zealand. Students who have met the following criterial will be eligible to enter into the final 75 credits of the EIT Master of Applied Management program:

  1. Successful completion of the Humber Ontario Graduate Certificate in (A) Entrepreneurial Enterprise, Business Management, (B) Human Resources Management, (C) Global Business Management, (D) Marketing Management, (E) Project Management, (F) Supply Chain Management, (G) Hospitality and Tourism Operations Management, (H) Sport Business Management, (I) Event Management, or (J) Music Business;
  2. Successful completion of an approved research methods course from Humber; and,
  3. Achievement of the NZQA minimum English proficiency standards for a degree program by completing any Ontario Graduate Certificate.

To complete the EIT Master of Applied Management, graduates of the Humber’s Ontario Graduate Certificates listed above require 75 credits at NZQF Levels 8 and 9 with a minimum of 45 credits at NZQF Level 9.

The EIT Master of Applied Management is a term-based program with four terms per year; each term consists of nine teaching weeks and a term break.

All Humber graduates articulating through this pathway will be provided with academic guidance by the EIT Master of Applied Management (180) Programme Coordinator in regards to EIT’s supervision capability at the time of student application.

Graduates of Ontario Graduate Certificate from Humber College who enroll at EIT will enroll as international students and will have the rights and obligations of international students.

How to Apply

Applications to Humber are made through ontariocolleges.ca. Be sure to submit your application by the equal consideration deadline of February 1. You may apply after February 1, however, post-February 1 applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis depending on the availability of the space in the program. Humber’s Marketing Management graduate certificate program is a comprehensive program covering a wide range of topics relevant to today’s marketing professionals including branding, product development, advertising, distribution, sales, integrated marketing communications, planning, budgeting and strategy.

You will receive advanced training in a number of transferable skills that employers are looking for in their new hires, including creative problem solving, communications, decision-making, goal-setting and time management. With a highly practical focus, you will learn from a combination of real-world case studies and cutting-edge marketing techniques.

Upon successful completion of the program, a graduate will:

  • Formulate a marketing* plan that will meet the needs or goals of a business or organization.

  • Develop an integrated marketing communications plan * for a product*, concept, good and/or service based on an identified market need or target.

  • Formulate strategies for developing new and/or modified products*, concepts, goods and services that respond to evolving market needs.

  • Develop strategies for the efficient and effective placement/ distribution of products*, concepts, goods, and services that respond to evolving markets.

  • Evaluate the impact of using different marketing strategies for a product, concept, good and/or service, on the finances, Return on Investment (ROI) and business goals of an organization.

  • Evaluate the viability of a concept, product*, good and/ or service in a local, national or international markets.

  • Conduct market research* to provide information needed to make marketing* decisions.

  • Communicate marketing* information persuasively and accurately in oral, written, graphic and interactive media* formats.

  • Plan, prepare and deliver a sales presentation or pitch that addresses the needs of the client.

  • Develop strategies with clients, customers, and consumers* and others to grow and maintain relationships.

  • Develop learning and development strategies and plans to enhance professional growth in the field.

  • Apply entrepreneurial strategies to identify and respond to new career opportunities that might include contract employment, and self-employment initiatives.

  • Participate in and contribute to a framework of organizational policies and practices, when conducting business of the organization.

  • Apply the principles of business ethics and corporate social responsibility to business decisions.

Work Placement

Gain hands-on industry experience with a 160-hour (minimum) work placement.  Here you will have the opportunity to apply what you have learned in the classroom in a real-world business environment. With our support, you will find your placement at any number of leading marketing or advertising firms, or directly within the marketing departments of local, national or international brands.  Placements can be completed on a part-time basis throughout the academic year or full time once your classes are complete.

Projects You'll Work On

This program utilizes in-class learning activities, such as lectures, discussions, exams, quizzes and learning exercises. But learning isn't just limited to the classroom or even the Humber campus. You'll be involved in hands-on projects that mimic the roles and responsibilities of marketing professionals, like working on creating a fully integrated marketing plan, sales simulations, market research, drafting creative briefs, determining the financial viability of entering a new market, and more.

Another major project includes the selling Toronto Marlies (MLSE) tickets to help raise money for Camp Oochigeas, a charity that allows children affected by childhood cancer to enjoy camp and feel like kids again. You'll build your sales and business skills, while also contributing to a worthy cause.

Career Search Assistance

Not only will you be prepared for a job in marketing, but you'll also learn skills that will help you secure that job! The curriculum covers soft skills, such as preparing effective resumes and cover letters, presentation skills, interview best practices, your elevator pitch and the resources to search for internships and jobs. Throughout the year, internships and jobs will be posted on our job portals giving you the opportunity to find the work placement opportunity that aligns with your career ambitions.

Upon graduation from the Marketing Degree, grads will earn an SAS Certificate in Marketing Analytics. This is very exciting news as now The Faculty of Business is the only Polytechnic Degree in Ontario to have this type of certification.
